Oh, Roy. She put her hand on his cheek, and he nearly melted. You have no idea how important you are. But you will. She nodded, and her eyes sparkled. You will soon find out what you already know – what you’ve always known.

She nodded in silence, gazing at him with her sorrowful eyes.

Roy shook his head, unable to believe.

Always doubtful. She laughed. The sound sent a tingle up his spine. Always so humble. You have too much of your father in you.

My Roy.She spoke his name, and hole he had held in his heart for twenty-four years instantly filled. My son…

She drew him into her arms and she held him. Roy buried his face on her shoulder, finding comfort there he didn’t know existed. For the first time since his father died he felt tears well in his eyes. For once he didn’t try to stop them. He cried onto her shoulder like a child – the way he had never been able to before. She reached up to stroke his hair, and whispered soothingly in his ear. He held on tighter, wishing he’d never have to let go.

All too soon, she released him.
It’s time, she whispered, with tears still streaming from her eyes.
